The Bus Route
Check out some of the connections we've made along the way!
01
Journaling Workshop
Our journaling workshop is held twice a month at the West Blvd Library. It is a two hour session where we answer and discuss introspective questions, followed by collaging.
02
Roof Above Activity Hour
We made a stop by Roof Above and taught participants how to hand sew. They learned how to do a run stitch and a back stitch.
Roof Above is a comprehensive homeless service provider serving 1,400 people per day through a spectrum of services ranging from street outreach, day services, emergency shelter, and permanent supportive housing.
03
Destress Saturday - Davidson
We got to join NAMI in Davidson, NC to bring the community a fun activity they could use to relax and get creative. We taught finger knitting, along with an alternative that uses common household (toilet paper roll, popsicle sticks and tape) items to create knitted cords.
04
Life Hacks Teen Program
We spent the evening at the Mountain Island Library teaching teens how to hand sew. Participants learned how to do a Blanket Stitch by assembling felt frames for mini polaroids.
05
The Relatives Activity Hour
We had a great time teaching young adults how to sew a blanket stitch by making felt frames for mini polaroids.
06
Saturday with Dad Activity Hour
We stopped back by the Mountain Island Library to host the last session of their Saturday with Dad program. Dads and kiddos took some time to answer questions about their favorite part of spending Saturdays together. They talked about what they learned about each other and what they would like to do together in the future. Participants ended the session by creating paper portraits of each other.
The Relatives is a hub of resources that helps children and youth find shelter and support. The Relatives serves as the Safe Place agency for Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area, partnering with local businesses to ensure young people in need have access to immediate help and supportive resources.
